Surf - Design Planet Blurp No.51

A February-March 2009 Project:

Near the end of my Blurp No.49, I mentioned that I was busy insulating and finishing the enclosure of my lower patio area. This open lower patio had no view due to a sloped retaining wall, and was now shaded by my above new sunroom (shown below) ...a photo was also shown in Blurp No.49.

I decided to design this area as a small hobby shop for spraying models, and for my drill press and scroll saw hobby work. It is not heated, but I insulated it well for use during most of our Canadian year. The room is about 7'x12'. I just put up the drywall sheeting, and it is now above freezing so I applied the seam mud over the last weekend. It is now beginning to look like a room.

I also installed raised interlocking floor panels over the existing original concrete patio slab. After one more light sanding of the walls and ceiling tomorrow, I am ready to paint all. I picked up some wall primer and a very light green (almost white) to finish the walls and ceiling.

I also installed a vent outlet for my hobby spray booth and installed a couple of cupboards. One shelf-cupboard (shown above) is for holding my acrylic spray cans used for model priming and base paint coats.

When all the painting is complete, I will install flooring, hook up the electrical and ceiling fixtures and move my equipment in.

In April I will be very busy finishing the interior of the new sunroom (shown below).
